I'm Wyatt, the guy behind NYCwinerookie.
I grew up in a Canadian household with a lot of French influence, so wine was always around. Nothing formal, just part of life. Fast-forward a bit and I started drifting away from the typical early-20s drinking scene and leaning hard into wine instead. What started as curiosity turned into a full-blown obsession.
Over the last couple years I've been lucky to travel to places like Napa, Piedmont, Bordeaux and beyond, learning directly from producers, collectors, and people who just love great bottles. NYCwinerookie came out of that. The goal is simple: make wine feel normal, fun, and part of a modern lifestyle. The same way you care about where you eat, how you work out, or what you wear, you can care about what's in your glass too.
By day I work in tech. By night (and most weekends) I'm opening bottles, hosting dinners, and sharing what I'm learning online. I'm not trying to be a sommelier and I'm not chasing certifications. I like being a consumer who can translate good wine into plain English and help people feel comfortable getting into it.
You meet incredible people through wine, especially in a city like New York. NYCwinerookie is just my way of bringing more people into that world.
